Description
yay for snow days~ probably wouldn't have had this done till next week otherwise
For my second (out at 12) theme projects in AP CG, I did the greek story of Daedalus and Icarus.
The story behind them in a nutshell is in order to escape the labyrinth they were in, Daedalus made him and his son Icarus wings. When they were taking off he told Icarus not to fly too close to the sun or the wax used to make the wings would melt, but being too excited about the concept of flying, (as I would be too) Icarus doesnt hear this, takes off, flys too close to the sun, and plunges into the ocean. FUN FACT- falling from more than 50 feet into water is equivalent to falling on concrete. that's my nice way of saying he died.
for this project I trie a different approach to 'digital painting' by using the 'wet oil flow' (I think thats what its called) to give it a more painted look. not sure if i'll try that again...

Very cool! I love the depth that the feathers add, and the ocean especially!
